Driveway Slide

Henry had a little tumble in the driveway. Doesn't he look like a little bruiser!

Spring Break

Noell made a delicious veggie pot pie!

Jess's homemade cinnamon raisin bread (which sustained us for our 8 hour flight around the world).

FINALLY arriving after a 33 hour adventure to make it back to Austin.

Ang and I had a wonderful visit with Jess and Noell in Richmond. Great food, conversation, weather, scenery, cuddly cats, and wine made this the perfect retreat!

I'm basically blogging for the sake of it tonight. It has been a long time since my last post. I had a great birthday week. I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my students. I ate a delicious cupcake from my favorite bakery courtesy of Rhett. I got to go to a 3D, IMAX movie with my girlfriends. We had a fun trip to see my parents last weekend and we have a babysitter lined up for tomorrow so there will be many more birthday tidbits to come.

You're Not My Friend

I've recently learned that a 3 1/2 year old likes to handle most rejections that come their way by saying, "Not Gonna Be Your Friend". I like the idea that all your problems in life could be solved with the response, "Not Gonna Be Your Friend".
Think about the simplicity of it
You don't get the promotion you want at work or you get a stupid job assignment. Give your superior a quick, "Not Gonna Be Your Friend".

Your spouse gives you a hard time about letting your papers pile up. Hey..."Not Gonna Be Your Friend".

The bank says you don't have enough money to buy the house of your dreams in Tarrytown. Well, "Not Gonna Be Your Friend Either"!

What I've realized about parenting and life maybe is just when you don't think you can take one more second, you get a reprieve. It has been a little difficult living with the second lady of the house lately. Just last night I was referencing Toddler 411 and How to Handle your 2-5 year old's Most Exacerbating Behavior for suggestions on some of the most recent behaviors that have made me strongly consider installing a margarita machine in my car.
Then tonight we had the loveliest evening together. I am thankful for the wonderful play and conversation we shared. Even if she wakes up tomorrow grumpier than ever it was nice to have a glimpse of what's on the other side.
